April 29, 1931 - April 21, 2019Surrounded by her loving family, Carol M. Brudvig, age 87, of rural Lake Mills, died peacefully Easter Sunday morning, April 21, 2019, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota.
Carol Mamie (Anderson) Brudvig was born on April 29, 1931, in Freeborn County, Minnesota, to Helmer and Lena (Leegaard) Anderson. Baptized on June 7, 1931, at the Silver Lake Lutheran Church, rural Northwood, and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Albert Lea, she attended and graduated from Albert Lea High School in Albert Lea, Minnesota.
On June 26, 1953, she married Erling O. Brudvig at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. The couple, blessed with a daughter, Clarice, made their home on their farm northwest of Lake Mills where they had remained since. Otherwise, she and Erling were able to winter in Mesa, Arizona, regularly for almost thirty years.
An active member of the Scarville Synod Lutheran Church, Carol, actively, participated with the Ladies Aide and Dorcas Societies. A farmwife and homemaker, she enjoyed cooking and studied the Bible daily.
A kind and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she is survived by her husband, Erling, of Lake Mills; her daughter, Clarice (Kim) Olson, of Woodbury, Minnesota; five grandchildren: Matthew, Tyler, Luke, Benjamin, and Elza Olson, all of Woodbury; a sister, Mavis Klouse, of Austin, Minnesota; and a sister-in-law, Nina Anderson, of Ellendale, Minnesota; as well as by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Harlan Anderson; and three sisters, Myrtle Berge, Lillian Pixley, and Laurene Groe.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 PM on Saturday, April 27, 2019, at the Scarville Synod Lutheran Church in Scarville, Iowa, with Pastor Joshua Skogen officiating. Burial will follow the Scarville Synod Lutheran Cemetery, rural Scarville. Visitation is scheduled from 2:30 to 3:30 at the church on Saturday.
