April 21, 1928 - March 21, 2019Ruth M. Zingg, age 90, of Leland, Iowa, died on Thursday, March 21, 2019, at the Good Samaritan Center in Forest City.
Ruth was born on April 21, 1928, in Winnebago County, to Samuel Torsten and Christine (Solomonson) Okland. She attended grade school in Leland and graduated from Lake Mills High School in 1946. On April 16, 1950, she married Arlin Zingg at Center Lutheran Church, rural Leland, Iowa. Enjoying her role as a farm wife, she took great pride in caring for her home and husband Arlin. Indeed, she wore many hats arounds the farm. She liked sewing in her spare time and collecting milk glass as well as other glassware. A life-long member of Center Lutheran Church, she will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her brother, Lloyd (Margaret) Okland; her sister, Ruby Butler; and her sisters-in-law, Arlene Sorenson and Ruth Charlson; as well as by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arlin Zingg, in 2009; her brothers: John (Alice) Okland, Ted (Muriel) Okland, Adolph (Clara) Okland, Stanley (Ardis) Okland, Wally Okland, and Luther (Ruby) Okland; her sisters, Selma Okland and Arlene (Kenneth) Hillman; brother-in-law, Dale Zingg, in 2018; and her sister-in-law, Mavis Holt; as well as by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 27, 2019, at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street, Lake Mills, Iowa, with Pastor Josh Skogen of Center Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will be in West Prairie Cemetery in rural Leland, Iowa. Visitation is schedules for one hour before the service at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home in Lake Mills, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the Center Lutheran Church.
