Rose Marie Henderson
January 16, 1931 - September 29, 2018Rose Marie Henderson, 87, of Lake Mills, passed away on Saturday, September 29, 2018, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City, Iowa.
Rose Marie (Stavnesli) Henderson was born on January 16, 1931, at the home of her parents, Helmer and Amanda (Olson) Stavnesli, in Manly, Iowa. She attended school in Manly and participated in many church activities at both Bristol and Silver Lake Lutheran Churches throughout her entire life.
On August 31, 1947, Rose married Ardell Harlan Henderson in Albert Lea, Minnesota. Lifelong residents of the Silver Lake and Lake Mills area, they raised their four children there as well. They had been married for forty-five years when Ardell passed away in 1992.
After working at Winnebago Industries in Forest City for twenty-three years, Rose retired in 1994. Very proud of her Norwegian heritage, she loved her family dearly. If she wasn’t spending time with family or helping others, she would be reading books and doing crossword puzzles. She, always, kept her flowerbeds and bird feeders full. Moreover, she, a passionate animal lover, made furry friends everywhere she went.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Kathie Lantis, of Big Stone City, South Dakota, Ronald (Karen) Henderson, of Lake Mills, Randy Henderson, and his special friend, Robin, of Hollandale, Minnesota, and Nancy Peterson, and her special friend, Tom, of Lake Mills; eight grandchildren: Kristina (Josh Kefauver) Lantis, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Eric (Stacy) Lantis, of Sartell, Minnesota, Laura Beth Lantis, of Big Stone City, South Dakota, Jamie Henderson, of Forest City, and Barry (Brenda) Henderson, Lindy Henderson. and Shannon Peterson, all of Lake Mills, and Jessica Peterson, of Marion, Iowa; seven great-grandchildren; and six nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ardell; a stillborn daughter; a brother, John Stavnesli; a sister-in-law, Carmen Kaasa; a brother-in-law, Paul Henderson; a son-in-law, Jeff Lantis; and her close friend, Ernie Thompson.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 5, 2018, at 2:00 PM at the Silver Lake Lutheran Church, rural Northwood, Iowa, with Pastor Randy Baldwin officiating. Burial will follow in the Silver Lake Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation for Rose will be on Thursday, October 4, 2018, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street; and will continue for one hour before the service at the church on Friday.
