Betty June Baldwin
February 25, 1923 - July 30, 2018Forest City - Betty June Baldwin, 95, of Forest City, died on Monday, July 30, 2018, at the Hancock County Hospital in Britt, Iowa.
Betty June Baldwin was born in Quimby, Iowa, on February 25, 1923, to Ernest and Henrietta Hass Conley. Shortly after graduating from Quimby High School, she married Russel V. Baldwin on September 18th, 1940. They farmed for several years before moving to Paullina where their family grew to include five sons. Then, in 1959, the family moved to Nashua where Russ managed the Nashua Equity Co-op, and Betty worked for the Nashua Reporter.
In 1961, they moved to Forest City, and Betty began working directly with John K. Hanson at Winnebago Industries. The 32nd employee ever hired by the company, she retired on April 27th, 1990, at which time John K. recognized her for having billed out more than 23,000 motor homes over the years and that her employee number had, now, changed to number 8.
Next, Betty and Russ began traveling extensively and enjoying the winters in Mesa, Arizona, for many years. A member of the Methodist Church, Betty liked writing short stories for Cappers Weekly and other magazines. Moreover, she, especially, enjoyed reading and was grateful to the Forest City Library for regularly providing her with books and other reading material.
Betty is survived by three sons: Richard, and his wife, Suzanne, of Nashua, Iowa, Daniel, of Houston, Texas, and David, and his wife, Donna, of Las Cruses, New Mexico; six grandchildren; and many great grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Russ, in 2009 and two sons, Steven and Randy.
According to her wishes, her remains will be cremated and graveside services will be held at a later date in the Oakland Cemetery in Forest City. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Forest City Library.
