June 1, 1948 - May 1, 2018Julius P. Severson, 69, of Forest City, died on Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Julius, a son of Orville and Velma (Potter) Severson, was born on June 10, 1948, in Forest City, Iowa. During the Vietnam War, he was drafted into the United States Army in 1968. Honorably discharged in 1970, he returned to Forest City where he farmed and worked for Winnebago Industries for a short time.
Julius enjoyed farming, operating John Deere tractors, tinkering, and working on cars. He, even, liked restoring his old Camaro. Nevertheless, he loved Harley Davidson motorcycles the most. Indeed, he made twenty consecutive trips to Sturgis, South Dakota, for the motorcycle rally. In addition, he, thoroughly, enjoyed participating in an Honor Flight to Washington D.C. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his nieces and nephews, Lisa (Gary) Gramm, of Naperville, Illinois, Robert (Paulette) Gray, of Crystal Lake, Illinois, and Lynn (Mike) Patton, of Naperville, Illinois; and his great nieces and nephews: Liam, Emily, Kelly, Dan, and Paige.
Julius was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Elizabeth Ritscherle.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, May 5, 2018, at the Cataldo Schott Funeral Chapel, 505 North Clark Street, Forest City, with Pastor Rod Hopp of Immanuel Lutheran Church officiating. A gathering of family and friends will assemble one hour before the services on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery in Forest City, Iowa, with Military Honors performed by the Forest City American Legion #121. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Waldorf College.
