Vivian M. Sampson, 104, of Forest City, died Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at the Good Samaritan Center in Forest City.

Vivian M. Sampson, a daughter of Jesse and Margaret (Donahue) Otis, was born on July 9, 1913, in Forest City, Iowa. She attended the Otis school and went on to graduate from Forest City High School in 1931. In 1933, she graduated with a teaching degree from Waldorf College. She married Archie H. Sampson on February 6, 1934. They lived in Forest City their entire married lives. Their union was blessed with a son, Archie Sampson, Jr.

Vivian worked at Harrison’s Variety store for thirty-one years, retiring in 1983. A member of St. James Catholic Church in Forest City and a former president of the Ladies’ guild, she, also, belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary and the Kum Along Club. She enjoyed traveling, playing cards, and especially working in her garden. In addition, she loved the time she spent with her family and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Vivian is survived by her five grandchildren and their spouses, Scott (Julie) Sampson, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Kim (Dan) Langfald, of Forest City, Stephanie (Deb) Coates, also of Forest City, Gail (Chuck) Seebeck, of Clear Lake, and Jostin (Daryl) Heimer, of Garner; twelve great grandchildren; twenty-two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Gloria Eymann, of Kansas City, Missouri; as well as by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Archie; her son, Archie, Jr.; five siblings; and one great-grandchild.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, April 21, 2018, at St. James Catholic Church with Father Paul Lippstock officiating. A gathering of friends and family will assemble one hour before the services at the church on Saturday. Inurnment will follow at St. James Catholic Cemetery in Forest City.
