October 4, 1943 - February 24, 2018

Surrounded by his family, Collin C. Fjetland, 74, of Woden, passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2018, at the Lakeside Lutheran Nursing Home in Emmetsburg, Iowa.

Collin Clifford Fjetland, a son of Clifford and Verlette (Moen) Fjetland, was born on October 4, 1943, in Forest City, Iowa. Baptized and confirmed at the Forest City Evangelical Lutheran Church, he attended Forest City High School. On June 30th, 1963, he married Carmen Marie Brandt at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Titonka, Iowa. To their union, three children were born. Collin worked at Winnebago Industries, Ley Motors, and Lake Auto, which he opened in Crystal Lake and ran until he retired in 1999. After retiring, Collin drove school bus for Forest City Schools.

Collin loved classic cars and spent much of his life restoring them. A member of the Gamblers Car Club, he enjoyed attending car shows. He, also, had a passion for music. Indeed, for twenty-five years, he belonged to the “Rondels Band,” which included his two brothers, Lon and Jerry, and a close family friend, Lou Banta. In addition, he enjoyed playing the violin, keyboard, and steel guitar.

Those left to cherish his memory include Carmen, his wife of fifty-four years; his three children: Colen (Shari) Fjetland, of Emmetsburg, Crystal (Chad) Anderson, of North Mankato, Minnesota, and Cory (Stacie) Fjetland, also of Emmetsburg; seven grandchildren: Drew (Kaylee) Humphrey, of Des Moines, Ashley (Andrew) Trick, of Emmetsburg, and Alex, Caleb, Sophia, Carsen and Conner Fjetland, of Emmetsburg; four great grandchildren: Jack, Cole, Althea, and Saylor Grace; a sister, Virginia (Dennis) Loux, of Clear Lake; two brothers, Lon (Roxanne), of Clear Lake, and James Rassmuson, of Humboldt; and a sister-in-law, Cindy (Kerm) Belvance, of Forest City; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Verlette (Moen) Fjetland; his father, Clifford Fjetland; his brother, Jerry Fjetland; his granddaughter, Calista Fjetland; and his grandparents.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, February 28, 2018, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Woden, Iowa, with Reverend Kim S. Peterson officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel, 310 Main Street, Woden. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lakeside Lutheran Home or Palo Alto Hospice, both of Emmetsburg.
