Lorraine M. Osheim
December 11, 1922 - January 15, 2018

Lorraine M. Osheim, 95, of Thompson, Iowa, died on Monday, January 15, 2018, at the Good Samaritan Center in Forest City, Iowa.

Lorraine Maron (Hagenson) Osheim was born on December 11, 1922, on the family farm near Thompson. On June 11, 1946, she married Vernon Osheim, and to their union, four children were born. They made their home in Thompson their entire lives. Vernon passed away January 6, 2012, and shortly thereafter, Lorraine moved to Forest Plaza Assisted Living in Forest City. Most recently, however, she moved to the Good Samaritan Center in Forest City.

Lorraine worked for many years as postal clerk in Thompson, Rake, and Lakota. An excellent homemaker, she loved to cook, preserve, and freeze her bountiful garden produce.

She and Vernon enjoyed camping and traveling in their motorhome. They roamed all over the United States, visiting every state but Hawaii and Florida. They, especially, loved to attend Bluegrass festivals.

Lorraine was, always, playing cards with other Good Sam residents and visitors. Her quick wit, invariably, brought a big smile and a hearty chuckle. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she will be, dearly, missed.

Lorraine is survived by her four children, Mary Ann (Irven) Olsen, of Thompson, Colleen (Russell) Haugen, of Thompson, Charles (Kristi) Osheim, also of Thompson, and Donna (Randy) Miller, of Leland, Iowa; her twelve grandchildren: Justin (Oakley) Rollefson, of Tempe, Arizona; Jeremy (Olivia) Rollefson, of Rockford, Illinois; Lorissa Rollefson, of Indianola, Iowa; Steven Olsen, of Thompson, Iowa; Amy (Ross) Long, of Fairmont, Minnesota; Jason (Laura) Haugen, of Farmington, Minnesota; Lisa (Matthew) Brozik, Jill (Blake) Jones, Michael (Amy) Olsen, and Kathy (Brandon) Zender, all of North Mankato, Minnesota; Kristine (Joe) Kidder, of Rosemount, Minnesota; and James (Tuesday) Haugen, of Woodbury, Minnesota; as well as by twenty-one great-grandchildren and one more soon to arrive.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her loving husband, Vernon; her only sibling - her brother, Reyburn Hagenson; and her parents, Emmer and Anna (Johnson) Hagenson.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, January 20, 2018, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Thompson with Pastor Judy Wozniak officiating. A visitation will be held during the hour before the funeral service at the church on Saturday. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.

Cataldo Schott Funeral Home, Forest City, Iowa, 2018.
