Ronald Lee Johnson
August 14, 1949 - July 24, 2017Ronald L. Johnson, 67, of Forest City, died on Monday, July 24, 2017, at the Good Samaritan Center in Forest City.
A son of Henry and Amelia (Berhow) Johnson, Ronald was born on August 14, 1949, in Buffalo Center, Iowa. He attended and graduated from Lakota High School. In 1969, he married Joyce Leonard; to this union two daughters, Traci and Tresa, were born. Later, however, they divorced. In 1991, he married Julie Asche, and to this union, one son, Trevor, was born; they, also later, divorced.
Ron worked for Winnebago Industries and Ley Motor Company for many years. He had a passion for helping people, and he found his true calling as a Paramedic. He worked for Snell’s, the Forest City Ambulance Service, and with Van Diest Medical Center in Webster City, retiring in 2015. He enjoyed fishing, shooting guns, and hunting. He liked spending time with his friends and family, especially with his children and grandchildren and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Ron is survived by his children, Traci (Paul) Van Gerpen, of Garner, Iowa, Tresa (Scott) Boden, of Gardner, Kansas, and Trevor Johnson, of Forest City; his grandchildren, Alex, Tiara, and Mackenzie Van Gerpen and Kiley, Joe, and Mallory Boden; and two sisters, Marlyss Slattum and Mardie Groh; as well as by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers-in-law, Arden Slattum and Richard Groh.
A celebration of life gathering of family and friends will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M., Friday, July 28, 2017, at the Cataldo Schott Funeral Home, 505 North Clark Street, Forest City, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Ronald Johnson memorial fund in care of the family.
