Charlotte J. Hamlin
December 18, 1926 - June 15, 2017Charlotte Hamlin, 90, of Zimmerman, Minnesota, formerly of Thompson, died on June 15, 2017, in Princeton, Minnesota.
Charlotte Jean Doyle lived in the Thompson, Iowa, area her entire life as one of six children on a farm not far from there. She married Christian Palmer Hamlin in 1944 after he returned from a four-year deployment in the Navy. They, subsequently, had three children, Kathy, Michael, and Kevin, and lived in Thompson until they retired.
Charlotte attended a business school after graduating from high school. Next, she worked for the ASC Office in Thompson for many years as well as for Winnebago Industries in Forest City, Iowa, in later years. A member of Bethany Lutheran Church all her life, she, actively participated in the Ladies Aid Society.
Charlotte was well liked by all who knew her, especially by her children. A kind, gentle, and selfless woman always more concerned about others than herself, she, invariably, placed the needs of others above her own. Indeed, all who met her and had the opportunity to spend time with her loved her.
She referred to her retirement home as her "little piece of heaven" whenever she was reminded of Hackensack, Minnesota, or spent time there with her children. A very happy person, she made sure all who associated with her felt her happiness.
Char was preceded in death by her husband, Palmer, the love of her life, and her daughter, Kathy. Char is survived by her son, Michael, and his daughter, Marissa; her son, Kevin, his wife, Michelle, and their children, Jeremy, Sasha, and Samantha; and Kathy's children, Brent and Brian, as well as their children.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 5th, 2017, at 11:00 AM at Bethany Lutheran Church in Thompson. Her family will greet friends for one hour before the service at the church on Saturday.
