Eunice M. Strand

Eunice Marie Erdal Strand died on Friday, October 7, 2016.

The second child of Martin and Amelia Erdal, Eunice was born on February 27, 1918, in Rake. Growing up, she helped in the family store learning the value of honest, hard work.

After graduating from both Waldorf College and St. Olaf College, Eunice taught in Hanlontown where she met Alvin Strand. They married in 1942, and following World War II, they moved to Forest City where they established the Strand Dairy. In addition, Eunice taught home economics and English at Crystal Lake Elementary School.

Together, they retired to Mesa, Arizona, in 1977. A longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City and Victory Lutheran Church in Mesa, Arizona, Eunice’s strong Christian faith became an integral part of her life. She spent her life assisting others and entertaining guests in her home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Amelia; her sisters, Magdalene and Ardys; and her husband, Alvin. She is survived by her brother, Norris; her sons, Ken, John, Mark, and Tim; her daughters-in-law; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.

Interment will follow in Forest City.
