July 1, 1927 - July 16, 2016A daughter of Clarence V. and Emma (Perkins) Butts, Marian M. Winter was born on July 1, 1927, in Britt. She grew up in Britt, graduating from Britt High School in 1945. On October 11, 1947, she married John Ronald Winter at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.
After their wedding, Marian and John lived in Buffalo Center for thirty-seven years before moving to Woden where they lived for ten years. Then, they returned to Buffalo Center. Following the death of her husband in 1998, Marian moved to Rockford to live with her son.
Marian enjoyed listening music, playing cards, and visiting with her family and friends. An avid reader, she, also, enjoyed watching westerns and game shows on TV and doing word searches.
Marian M. Winter died on Saturday, July 16, 2016, at the Good Shepherd Care Center in Mason City at the age of 89. She is survived by two sons, James Winter, of Forest City, and Dale Winter, and his wife, Darla, of Mason City; five grandchildren, Heather (J.P.) Clark, of Amana, Robert (Tara) Stangel, of Indianola, Jason (Trista) Stangel, of Osage, Travis (Sarah) Stangel, of Ventura, and Derek Stangel, of Las Vegas, Nevada; and eleven great-grandchildren; as well as by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband John, on January 27, 1998; two sons, Gary, in infancy, and Keith Winter; and two brothers, Clarence and Maurice Butts.
A funeral service for Marian M. Winter, 89, formerly of Buffalo Center, will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 AM, at the First Congregational Church, Buffalo Center, with Reverend Brad DeVries officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery, Buffalo Center. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
