October 22, 1920 - June 6, 2016

Lucille Sierp, a daughter of Carry and Minnie (Ratliff) Overman, was born on October 22, 1920, in Villisca, Iowa. She passed away Monday afternoon, June 6, 2016, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City, Iowa, at the age of 95 years, 7 months, and 15 days.

Growing up, Lucille attended school in Villisca, graduating from Villisca High School in 1938. On October 21, 1939, she married Irvin Sierp in Des Moines, Iowa. Their union was blessed with two children, Robert and Marlene.

A dedicated mother and housewife, Lucille lived for and raised her family in Villisca until 1960 when she and Irvin moved to Forest City, Iowa. After Irvin retired in 1972, they returned to Villisca. During this time, they, also, traveled and spent their winters in Arizona. After returning once again to make their home in Forest City, they, eventually, moved to Forest Plaza, an assisted living facility. Lucille continued to live independently at Forest Plaza for the past eleven years. In addition to traveling, she enjoyed visiting her children and grandchildren, reading, golfing, and playing bridge. She was a member of the Villisca Presbyterian Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Irvin; her daughter, Marlene; her parents; two sisters; and three brothers.

Survivors include her son, Robert Sierp, and his wife, Marcia, of La Crosse, Wisconsin; her son-in-law, Marion Huff, of Mason City, Iowa; three grandchildren; and six great grandchildren; along with other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2016, at the Villisca Cemetery in Villisca with Rev. Sandra Wainwright Rossander officiating. Burial will follow in the Villisca Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will take place on Saturday morning, June 11, 2016, from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Villisca. A memorial fund is being established. The Wolfe Funeral Home of Villisca is in charge of arrangements.
