Dorothy Anne Sabin, age 93, of Bricelyn, Minnesota, died on Monday, August 24, 2015, at her home.

Dorothy Anne, a daughter of Ole and Barbara (Henrickson) Bruvold, was born on December 28, 1921, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She attended normal training in Blue Earth, Minnesota, where she earned her teaching certificate. On December 28, 1945, she married Clifford Noel Sabin at the South Blue Earth Lutheran Church.

A loving farm wife and mother, she worked as a country school teacher. A very active member of Zion Lutheran Church, Dorothy enjoyed her involvement with the women's organizations. An avid gardener, she would can the food that she had harvested. She kept up with the daily news and enjoyed discussing politics. She had such a love of quilting that she made over 100 quilts for her church as well as many more that her family will treasure for years. With an endless love for her family, she so enjoyed hosting family reunions on the farm. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren have been blessed to have her in their lives. Even through difficult times, she always looked for the positive in every aspect of her life.

Dorothy is survived by her children: Steve (Kathy) Sabin, of California, Sandy Moore, of Iowa; Bill Sabin, of Minnesota, and Gretchen Hansen (Mark Brotheron), of Wisconsin; her daughter-in-law, Jodie Sabin; her grandchildren: Tena Cunningham; Beth McPeak; Ben and Lucas Moore; Andy, Danny, Jammie, Joe, Matt, Michelle, and Robbie Sabin; and Catie Scott; eighteen great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Cary Taylor, of Blue Earth, Minnesota, and Margaret Larson, of Minneapolis, Minnesota; as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clifford; her sisters, Virginia, Marianne, and Barbara in infancy; her son, James; her great-granddaughter, Morgan Cunningham; and her son-in-law, Lennis Moore.

The family would like to express their deep gratitude to Barb Weigel for her devotion and care for Dorothy.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, August 29, 2015, at 1:00 PM, at Zion Lutheran Church in Rake, Iowa, Pastor Terry Mahnke officiating. Visitation will be Friday, August 28, 2015, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Bricelyn, Minnesota, and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Burial will follow at Zion East Cemetery in Rake, Iowa. The Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home of Bricelyn is in charge of the arrangements.
