Steven Andrew Van Hove
[January 3, 1960]* - July 8, 2015

Unlike any other day, Steven Van Hove will not be answering his cell phone, text messages, or emails promptly. He will not be playing golf today...well because he hated golf. On Wednesday, July 8, 2015, Steven gave that smirk and sneaky little smile one last time and succumbed to a very heroic and very private three year battle with stage four cancer. If you did not know of Steven's struggles, you are not alone. Only a few good friends, who would not treat him any differently, were ever told.

Steven learned his privacy, dignity, and work ethic from his late great father, Ted Van Hove. He learned his compassion and world class cooking skills from the best cook in Winnebago County, his late mother Helen Van Hove. A proud and distinguished architect at Life Care Services Development for seventeen years, he regarded his LCS co-workers as his family.

He is also survived by his sisters, Ruth Ann Rosenwinkel, and her husband, Drake, and Laura Van Hove, and her husband, James; his nieces, Hannah and Mara Rosenwinkel; and a host of cousins, aunts, and uncles.

Steven is now free to go to the gun range every single day, cook some gourmet meals, and end the night with the "Lone Grey Wolf" kicking some kids’ butts in Call of Duty.

Visitation will be Monday, July 13, 2015, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines with graveside services Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Good Hope Lutheran Church Cemetery, 2112 330th St. in Titonka, Iowa.
