Marie "Mayme" Mildred Vilimek
(October 29, 1924 - April 21, 2015)

Marie M. “Mayme” Vilimek, age 90, of Lake Mills, Iowa, formerly of Elberon, Iowa, died on Tuesday, April 21, 2015, at the Lake Mills Care Center.

Marie Mildred (Bartosh) Vilimek was born on October 29, 1924, in Elberon, Iowa, to Joseph and Agnes (Buresh) Bartosh. Baptized and confirmed at the Elberon United Methodist Church, she attended and graduated from Elberon High School in 1945.

On Valentine’s Day, Marie was united in marriage with Lester Vilimek at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. The family made their home in many communities in Iowa because Lester worked for the railroad.

A homemaker for the most part, Marie enjoyed her family, took pride in her garden, and spent time canning what she could. She loved putting puzzles together and reading. Nonetheless, she did work outside her home, first as a switchboard operator, then as a secretary in an insurance office, and lastly as the manager at the Vining Bank.

Active with the Rebekah Lodge, Marie celebrated her sixty-five year membership on March 15, 2015. Over the years, she held every office within her lodge. After moving to Lake Mills in 1997, she joined the Senior Citizens Club.

Marie is lovingly survived by her daughter, Rebecca Olson, of Lake Mills; two grandchildren, Bob (Marcy) Olson, of Ellsworth, Iowa, and Sue (John) Bray, of Lake Mills, Iowa; four great grandchildren, Jonathan and Nicholas Olson and Abbey and Emily Bray; and a brother, Joe W. Bartosh, of Dysart, Iowa; as well as by many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Agnes Bartosh; her husband, Lester, in 1978; her son-in-law, Wayne Olson; her sister, Libbie Kos; her brother, Charlie Bartosh; and two sisters-in-law, Eileen and Esther Bartosh.

Visitation for Marie will be on Thursday, April 23, 2015, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street, Lake Mills. On Friday, April 24, 2015, there will be a second visitation from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Phillips Funeral Home, 92-5th Avenue, Keystone, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM on Saturday, April 25, 2015, at the Elberon United Methodist Church in Elberon, Iowa, with Rev. Richard Paulus officiating. Burial will take place in Vining National Cemetery, Vining, Iowa.
