January 9, 1925 - January 3, 2015Ila Johnson, 89, an amazing mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 3, 2015, with her loving family by her side at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota.
Ila (Storey) Johnson was born on January 9, 1925, to Harry and Mary Peterson in Dysart, Iowa. She married Harold Edmondson and had five children: Dan (Carol), Steve (Linda), Tim, and Sue Edmondson, and Janet (Dave) Snyder. Harold passed away in 1957, and years later, she married John Johnson and had two more sons, Jay Johnson and Don (Lisa) Johnson.
Ila worked hard for many years to provide for her children. She waitressed at the Bungalow Café and worked in the Lab and X-ray Department at the Forest City Hospital until she retired. She attended all the sports and music activities her children participated in and chauffeured many other children besides her own to make sure nobody was left out.
Ila enjoyed working crosswords puzzles, playing cribbage, watching any NBA game, and cheering on the Hawkeyes. Most of all, however, she loved hanging out and eating meals with the members of her family since they were all very special to her! She had a lot of compassion and a heart of gold. Words cannot express how deeply she will be missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Harold and John; and her son, Tim.
In accordance with her wishes, her remains were cremated and a gathering of friends and family will be held on Friday, February 6, 2015, from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Cataldo Schott Funeral Chapel, 505 North Clark St., Forest City. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Ila.
