U.S. Veteran Earl “Pat” Duane Tuttle, 67, of Lake Mills, Iowa, died on Wednesday, December 10, 2014, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota.

Earl “Pat” Duane Tuttle was born on October 3, 1947, in LeMars, Iowa, to Marlo and Susie (Smith) Tuttle. He attended school in Spencer, Iowa, and was kicked out during his senior year for chewing gum. Earl, then, joined the United States Navy. He served on the USS Annapolis in 1964 and was honorably discharged in 1968. For his years in the Navy, Earl received the National Defense Service Medal. Years later, he completed his GED.

Over the years, he worked at Iowa Parcel Service and Fleetguard Industries besides having his own printing business. He became disabled in 1990. He spent time collecting things and playing on his Ipad.

Earl is survived by his friend, Bonnie Thompson, of Lake Mills, Iowa; three sons and their families, Aaron Tuttle, and his fiancée, Amber Smith, of Missouri Valley, Iowa, Eric and Jamie Tuttle, and their children, Ellix Hardy and Sydney, Josie, and Rodney Kelley, of Honey Creek, Iowa, and Andre Tuttle, of Missouri Valley, Iowa; and a brother, Robert DeMars, of Colorado.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his ex-wife, Rita; a brother, Don DeMars; and a sister, Vonda Flack-Steece.

A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2015, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street, Lake Mills, Iowa.
