Ione Lee, 82, of Buffalo Center died on Wednesday, November 12, 2014, at her home in Buffalo Center.

Born to William and Shirley (Johnson) Van Loon on June 7, 1932, in Osceola, Iowa, Ione graduated from the Osceola High School. At the age of 16, she committed her life to God and remained true to that commitment until her last breath.

Ione lived and worked in Des Moines where she met her future husband, Orion W. Lee. They married on December 9, 1952. While Orion was serving in the military, they lived in Washington D.C. After returning to Iowa, they lived on their farm west of Buffalo Center where Ione enjoyed sewing, gardening, canning, and painting beautiful oil paintings. She worked as Orion’s secretary in his financial planning office for many years. After retiring, she and Orion enjoyed traveling, gardening, and visiting family and friends.

Ione is survived by four daughters: Lynette Lee, of Veracruz, Mexico, Janelle (Rick) Erickson, of Hector, Minnesota, Delaine (Dan) Keith, of Stillwater, Oklahoma; and Joyce (Tom) Kavaloski, of Stillwater, Minnesota; her son-in-law, Joe White, of Emmetsburg, Iowa; nine grandchildren: Kevin (Jaime), Brian, and Kara White; Kaloni, Brandon, Dustin, and Kendra Erickson; Aaron Keith; and Kalynn (Kyle) LiaBraaten; four great grandchildren: Ayden, Brennan, Gavin, and Jamin White; her sisters, Wilma (Wendell) Bengtson and Wanda (Larry) Faber; her brother, Gaylen Van Loon; and her sister-in-law, Jeanne Van Loon. She will be greatly missed by her family and a host of friends.

Ione was preceded in death by her husband, Orion Lee; her daughter, Denise White; her parents, William and Shirley Van Loon, her sister, Karen Van Loon, and her brother, Ivan Van Loon.
