July 23, 1952 - November 6, 2014Harris L. Bye, 62, of Scarville, Iowa, died on Thursday, November 6, 2014, at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota.
Harris Lynn Bye was born on July 23, 1952, in Albert Lea, Minnesota, a son of Harold James and Leona Frances (Helland) Bye.
He graduated from Lake Mills High School, North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC), and the University of Idaho with a major in Biology and a degree in Fishery/Wildlife Management.
On March 6, 1976, he married Rachel Ann Branstad at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Scarville, Iowa.
During the twenty-five years he farmed, Harris raised Beefalo and worked as a seed dealer for various companies. Afterwards, he worked for Cabela’s in Owatonna, Minnesota, for fifteen years as a gun specialist.
Harris loved spending time with his family and friends. He, especially, liked family fishing trips with his kids to Lake Winnibigoshish. In addition, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping along with many other outdoor activities.
Harris is survived by Rachel Bye, his loving wife of thirty-eight years, of Scarville, Iowa; his son, Anthony (Melissa) Bye, and their son, Jaden, of Dumont, Iowa; his daughter, Sonja (Steve) Rasmussen, and their son, Sawyer, of Estherville, Iowa; his sisters, Ellyn (Duaine) Harmon, of Lake Mills, Iowa, and Nancy (Ron) Sime, of Rake, Iowa; his brother, Howard (John) Bye-Torre, of Seattle, Washington; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Marcia (Gary) Knutson, of St. Louis Park, Minnesota, Linda Harris, and Steve (Gwenn) and Robert Branstad, all of Minneapolis, Minnesota; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Harris was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Leona; his mother- and father-in-law, Floyd and Burlette Branstad; and his brother-in-law, Mike Harris.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, November 11, 2014, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Scarville, Iowa, with Pastor Randy Baldwin officiating. Visitation will be take place between 5:00 and 7:00 PM, Monday evening, at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street, Lake Mills, Iowa 50450, and again one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Scarville, Iowa.
