Lauren Peterson
August 23, 1945 - September 13, 2014Lauren E. Peterson, 69, of Forest City, died on Saturday, September 13, 2014, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota.
Lauren was born on August 23, 1945, in Belmond, Iowa, a son of Roland E. and Clara Mae (Peterson) Peterson. He grew up in Belmond, attended school there, and graduated in 1964. He, then, served his country in the U.S. Army, 101st Airborne Division. He was honorably discharged after his time served. On March 2, 1971, he married Janice Cobb. To this union three children were born, Craig, Kelly, and Jon. Lauren and Janice, later, divorced.
For many years, Lauren worked as a mechanic for a road construction crew. During his spare time, he enjoyed working with cars, watching TV, and spending time with his family and friends. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Lauren is survived by his children, Craig Peterson, and his wife, Stacey, of Forest City, Kelly Lawson, of Lake Park, Iowa, and Jon Peterson, and his wife, Tanya, of Forest City; his grandchildren, Amanda, Christian, Cierra, Faith, Jared, John, Katelynn, Kristina, Shania, and Tawnee; two great grandchildren, Gaige and Kori; his siblings, Karna Janssen; Delwin (Jill), Dennis, Duane, Laura, Leon, Melvin, Merlin, and Sandra Peterson; and Shirley (Gene) Stenerson; and his sister-in-law, Lynn Peterson; as well as by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Rolland Peterson.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 19, 2014, from 4:00 - 6:00 P.M. with a Celebration of Life service starting at 6:00 P.M. at the Cataldo Schott Funeral Chapel, 505 North Clark St. Forest City, Iowa, with the Pastor Greg Anderson of Immanuel Lutheran Church officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lauren Peterson memorial fund.
