Alvera G. (Hanna) Lovick
May 4, 1920 - September 29, 2014

Alvera G. (Hanna) Lovick, 94, of Fertile, died on Monday, September 29, 2014, at the Good Samaritan Center in Forest City.

Alvera was born on May 4, 1920, in Winnebago County, a daughter of David G. and Clara (Vold) Hanna. Baptized at Winnebago Lutheran Church and confirmed at North Prairie Lutheran Church, Lake Mills, Iowa, she graduated from Lake Mills High School in 1938. She, then, taught country school for two years. On May 25, 1941, she married James Lovick at North Prairie Lutheran Church. They farmed in Winnebago and Worth Counties until they retired in 1988 when they moved to Fertile.

Alvera is survived by her husband, James; five daughters and one daughter-in-law: Gloria Kirschbaum, of Fertile, Iowa, Patricia (Purcell) Lovick, of Mankato, Minnesota, Mary Rye, of Robbinsdale, Minnesota, Janice Folkers, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Clara (Kurt) West, of Rochester, Minnesota, and Martha (William) Cavanaugh, of Charles City, Iowa; thirteen grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Helen (Roy) Purdy, of Albert Lea, Minnesota; her brother, Reuben Hanna, of Lake Mills; and her sister-in-law, Ovila Hanna, also of Lake Mills.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Betty Ann, in infancy; her son, David Henry; three sons-in-law: Edward Kirschbaum, Ralph Rye, and Doug Folkers; a brother, Floyd, in infancy; a sister, Geneva (Telford) Brekke; and a brother, Carl Hanna.

Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, October 4, 2014, at the Fertile Lutheran Church with the Pastor Dave Halvorson officiating. A gathering of friends and family will be held Friday, October 3, 2014, from 4:00 - 6:00 P.M. at the Cataldo Schott Funeral Chapel, 505 North Clark St., Forest City, Iowa. Burial of cremains will be held in Brush Point Cemetery in rural Fertile.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of North Iowa or the Fertile Lutheran Church .
