February 8, 1996 - August 12, 2014MASON CITY - Griffin Daniel Shaw, 18, of Mason City, formerly of Forest City, died on Tuesday, August 12, 2014, at his home.
Griffin Daniel Shaw, a son of Dennis and Susan (Moore) Shaw, was born on February 8, 1996, in Mason City. He attended Forest City High School. After graduating in 2013, he worked at several jobs around the North Iowa area. He enjoyed skateboarding, reading, snowboarding, and watching movies, and he loved his dogs, Peko, Cooper, and Muffin.
He was a member of the Forest City United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his parents, Dennis and Susan Shaw, of Forest City; his brother, Tobin Shaw, of Forest City; his maternal grandmother, Norma Moore, of Minneapolis, Kansas; his paternal grandmother, Geneva Shaw, of Sebring, Florida; his uncles, Chuck (Rachel) Moore, of Minneapolis, Kansas, and Doug (Cheryl) Shaw, of Wauseon, Ohio; his aunt, Vicki Glaze, of Sebring, Florida; and a special friend, Brooklynn O'Dell; as well as numerous cousins.
Griffin was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Kendall Moore, and his paternal grandfather, Wayne "Red" Shaw.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, August 16, 2014, at the United Methodist Church in Forest City with Rev. Charles Layton officiating. There will be no visitation. The Petersen Lund Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Griffin Shaw Memorial Fund in care of the family.
