Shirley Fay Dalton
September 9, 1940 - June 18, 2014Shirley Fay Dalton, 73, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at the Good Samaritan Home in Forest City.
Born on September 9, 1940, in Albert Lea, Minnesota, a daughter of Harvey and Mable Bugor, Shirley attended and graduated from Albert Lea schools. She met Larry while roller skating in 1957 and married him on June 13, 1959. Three children, Robert, Scott, and Michael, came to this union. Larry and Shirley lived their entire married life in Forest City where she raised her children and worked at Winnebago Industries until she retired June 2, 1997.
From a younger age, Shirley loved spending her spare time riding horses. Indeed, for her equestrian skills, she received many awards and trophies. She also bowled in several leagues for many years. She loved her granddaughters and enjoyed taking many family camping vacations in their RV camper. She also enjoyed showing off her solitary skills.
In 2013, Shirley moved to Forest Plaza Assisted Living while Larry resided at the Good Samaritan Center in Forest City. She spent as much of her time visiting Larry as possible. In May of 2014, she, herself, moved to the Good Samaritan Center where she was reunited with the love of her life until the time of her death. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Larry; her three granddaughters, Kali and Kaci Dalton and Sarah Potter; her great-grandson, Kaden Alamar; her daughter-in-law, Danette Dalton; her sisters-in-law, Mel Heinrichs, Fay Ingelin, and Anita Dalton; and her brother-in-law, Clair Dalton.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; her sons, Robert, in 1994, Scott, at birth in 1962, and Michael, in 2004; and her two brothers-in-law, Paul Ingelin and Paul Heinrichs.
Memorial Services will be held at 6:00 P.M., Friday, June 20, 2014, at the Petersen Lund Funeral Home, 505 North Clark St., with Pastor Chuck Layton of the United Methodist Church officiating. Inurnment of cremains will be held in Oakland Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Shirley F. Dalton memorial fund in care of the family.
