March 18, 1959 - November 25, 2013

FOREST CITY - Ron A. Jordan, 54, of Forest City, died on Monday, November 25, 2013, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City, Iowa. As per his wishes, his body has been cremated.

Ron A. Jordan was born in Fort Fairfield, Maine, on March 18, 1959, the son of Jon L. and Marcella (Pedersen) Jordan and the late Jerry Gaines. When he was a young child, the family moved to El Paso, Texas, and later to Abilene, Texas.

After Jon went to Vietnam, the family made their home in Atlantic, Iowa, where Ron attended school and participated actively in sports, especially on the swim team.

Ron and Ellen came to Forest City in 1982. They were married at Immanuel Lutheran Church on June 2, 1984. Ron was the owner and operator of his own contracting business his entire life. He loved nature and spending time outdoors whether camping or golfing. A very competitive sportsman, he always played to win.

In time, this same determined nature would carry him through fourteen months of difficult treatment for esophageal cancer. He never quit trying.

Ron is survived by his wife, Ellen, of Forest City; their sons, Travis (Tracey Peterson) Jordan, of Garner, and their children, Claire and Sophia; and Levi Jordan, of Forest City, and Ellen's daughter, Alexia (Trevor) Zeller, and their son, Trevor, of Sparta, Wisconsin; his mother, Marcella Gaines, of Atlantic, Iowa; and four brothers, Jon, Kim, and Jay Jordan and Jerry Gaines.

Ron was preceded in death by his father, Jon L. Jordan, and his step-father, Jerry Gaines.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, November 30, 2013, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City with Pastor Rod Hopp officiating. A memorial visitation will be held from 4:00 to 700 PM, Friday, November 29, 2013, at the Petersen Lund Funeral Home, 505 N. Clark Street, Forest City.
