Carroll Ross "Mickey" Low
(March 24, 1920 - September 2, 2013)

Carroll R. “Mickey” Low, age 93, of Lake Mills, died on Monday, September 02, 2013, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City, Iowa.

Carroll Ross “Mickey” Low was born on March 24, 1920, in Gordonsville, Minnesota, to Manley and Blanche (Wells) Low. Baptized and confirmed at the First Lutheran Church in Northwood, Iowa, he grew up in the Northwood area and attended country school.

On January 15, 1938, Mickey married Frances V. Turvold at the First Lutheran Church parsonage. Blessed with four children, they lived in rural Northwood where Carroll farmed. In 1964, the family moved to Lake Mills, and Mickey began working at Deluxe Products. He retired in 1983, however, from the Lake Mills Police Department where he had served for fifteen years.

Mickey enjoyed going to auctions, camping, playing cards, and dining out with family and friends. He and Frances were members of Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills.

Survivors include his children, Darrell (Sharlene) Low, of Yale, Oklahoma, David, Sr., “Sonny” (Loraine) Low, of Waseca, Minnesota, and Janell “Sis” (Eldren) Holstad, of Spencer, Iowa; his daughter-in-law, Carolyn Low, of Franklin, Kentucky; twelve grandchildren, Tommy (Cynthia) Low, of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Terry (Connie) Low, of Yale, Oklahoma, Tracy Geer, of Yale, Oklahoma, Tammy (Michael) Prince, of Yale, Oklahoma, Lynne Holstad, of Spencer, Iowa, Deanna Hewitt, of St. Peter, Minnesota, David Low, Jr., of St. Ansgar, Iowa, Juli (Dean) Redig, of Wells, Minnesota, and Kimberly (Gary) Sliger, Monica Arthur, Valerie (Jesse) Curtis, and Darrin Low, all of Franklin, Kentucky; one step-grandchild, Larissa (Kevin) Madewell, also of Franklin, Kentucky; thirty-seven great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Bernice “Sis” Estes, of Northwood, Iowa; a brother, Richard (Marge) Low, also of Northwood, Iowa; and two sisters-in-law, DeLoris Low and Pat Low, both of Northwood, Iowa; as well as by many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Carroll was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Frances; his son Burnell; and his siblings and their spouses: sisters, Lucile “Cile” (George) Mathews, Pearl (Leif) Weston, and Arlene “Snookey” (Carl) Groslan; and brothers, Vale (Bernice), Clarence “Babe” (Luella), Harold “Honey” (Eleanor), Russell (Dorothy), Allen “Sonny,” and Lyle “Bub.”

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, September 6, 2013, at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills, Iowa, with Pastor David E. Jordon officiating. Burial will take place in Sunset Rest Cemetery, Northwood, Iowa. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
