KIESTER, MINN. -David Brian “Ernie” Hamson, 50, of Kiester, Minnesota, died of cancer at his home on Thursday, May 23, 2013.

David was born on May 5, 1963, in Albert Lea, Minnesota, to Ernest and Judith (Anderson) Hamson. After graduating from Wells-Easton High School in 1982, he attended Albert Lea Vo-tech for diesel mechanics. Subsequently, he worked as a forklift operator at Winnebago Industries in Forest City, Iowa, for over fifteen years. He loved his job and all his co-workers.

In his spare time, David enjoyed riding his Harley, swimming, and going to stock car races. He also liked cooking and gardening. Most of all, however, he enjoyed making others laugh by telling them a joke, his daily goal.

David is survived by his father, Ernest Hamson, of Wells, Minnesota; his brother, Tom Hamson, of Freeborn, Minnesota; his sister, Tammy, and her husband, Chris Brandt, of Minnesota Lake, Minnesota; his nephew, Justin Roberts, and special friend, Alysha VanFleet, of Wells, Minnesota; his niece, Kelsey Roberts, of Minnesota Lake, Minnesota; and his grandmother, Dorothy Anderson; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and many, many friends including his dog, Lucky.

David was preceded in death by his mother, Judith Hamson; his maternal grandfather, Gay Anderson; his paternal grandparents, Oscar and Joy Hamson; his uncle, Lamar; his aunt, Betty; and his cousin, Brad.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wells, Minnesota. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at the Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday, Pastor Kathy Fullarton officiating. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery in Wells. The Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells is in charge of arrangements.
