July 10, 1946 - May 11, 2013FOREST CITY - Adrian J. Olson, 66, of Forest City, died on Saturday, May 11, 2013, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.
Adrian Jordan Olson was born on July 10, 1946, at Albert Lea, Minnesota, to Ivan and Arlet (Johnson) Olson. Baptized and confirmed at Bricelyn Lutheran Church, he attended Bricelyn School in Bricelyn, Minnesota. Subsequently, he worked at the canning company in Bricelyn, Winnebago Industries, and Service Mater as well as for Pritchards’ of North Iowa.
Adrian married first Cathy Pitcher, with whom he had three children, Steve, Tammy, and Chad, before they divorced. A few years later, he married Connie Merchant. He and Connie were blessed with two children, Amy and Tracy.
Adrian liked to fish, hunt, and camp. He also enjoyed watching sports, country westerns, and detective shows on television. His grandchildren, however, were his pride and joy.
Adrian is survived by his wife, Connie; his children, Amy (Silvey), Tracy, Steve, Chad, and Tammy (Jahnke); his brothers-in-law, Allen (Ruth) Merchant and Larry (Kim) Merchant; his uncles, Merle (Lorraine) Olson, of Hutchinson, Minnesota, and Richard Hanson, of Kamus, Washington; his mother-in-law, Geneva Merchant; and his grandchildren; as well as a niece; a nephew; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ivan and Arlet Olson; his maternal grandparents, Anna and Jewel Johnson; his paternal grandparents, Ole and Sylvia Olson; a sister, Ilene Lunning; an aunt, Lillian Hanson; an uncle, Cecil Olson, and his wife, Burnette; and his father-in-law, Roy Merchant.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, June 8, 2013, at the First Congregational Church in Forest City with Pastor Joyce Schmidt officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date.
