Arlo L. Trytten, age 80, of Lake Mills, died on Tuesday, September 29, 2009, at his home in Lake Mills.

Arlo LuVerne Trytten was born on May 20, 1929, at Leland, Iowa, the son of Oscar and Emma (Leifson) Trytten. Baptized at West Prairie Lutheran Church, rural Leland, Iowa, and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills, he attended Burlap Country School through the seventh grade. After his family moved to Lake Mills, he attended Lake Mills High School through the eleventh grade.

On December 31, 1948, Arlo married Darlene Hanna in Albert Lea, Minnesota. The couple celebrated their 60th anniversary on New Year’s Eve in 2008.

Arlo worked for Nyman Tiling and farmed near Woden, Iowa, for ten years. He also worked with his brothers, Glaydon, Lawrence, and Orville, doing masonry work. He retired from Eli Colby Co. where he had been a truck driver. He loved his family, his John Deere tractor, spending time outdoors, and playing cribbage.

Survivors include his wife, Darlene, of Lake Mills, Iowa; two sons, Larry Trytten, of Lake Mills, and Greg (Sally) Trytten, of Albert Lea, Minnesota; a grandson, Shane, of Minneapolis, Minnesota; a great grandson, Brandon, of Albert Lea, Minnesota; and a brother, Glaydon Trytten, of Lake Mills; as well as several brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Arlo was preceded in death by his parents, Emma and Oscar Trytten; his sisters, Alice Peterson, and Juella Trytten; and four brothers, Hiram, Lawrence, Elmer, and Orville Trytten.

Funeral services for Arlo Trytten will be held at 1:30 PM on Friday, October 2, 2009, at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills, Iowa, with Rev. W. Paul Weeg officiating. Burial will take place at Salem Memorial Cemetery, Lake Mills. Visitation will be on Thursday, October 1, 2009, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street, Lake Mills, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church.
