Eunice Rockwell, age 91, of Thompson, passed away on Easter Sunday morning, March 31, 2013, at the Timely Mission Nursing Home in Buffalo Center, having lived there since March of last year.

Eunice Mildred Rockwell was born on February 27, 1922, to Andrew and Annie Larson near Leland, Iowa. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith at West Prairie Church and confirmed at North Prairie.

She married Harold Leslie Rockwell on June 28, 1941, near Springfield, Missouri. After finishing the eighth grade, Eunice went on to work for families in need of household help, especially those who had become new parents.

After their marriage, Eunice and Harold moved to a farm near Thompson where they started their family. She, later, went to work for Fleetguard (Walker Deluxe) for twenty-seven years, making many friends along the way.

An active member of Bethany Lutheran Church, she also participated in her circle and the quilting club. Indeed, she so loved quilting that she made a quilt for each of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

An excellent cook, Eunice enjoyed preparing pot roast dinners for her family, especially for her grandchildren. She also loved to grow flowers and tend to her many flowerbeds.

Eunice is survived by her grandchildren: Teresa (Lonnie) Jurrens, of Sibley, Iowa, Jodi DeLay, of Plano, Texas, Debra (Brian) Throne, of Lake Mills, Iowa, Robert (Sherri) Hill, of Moore, South Carolina, Brad (Lisa) Rockwell, of Gainesville, Virginia, Mike (Sherri) Rockwell, of Poynette, Wisconsin, Brian (Courtney) Rockwell, of Madison, Wisconsin, Diana (Matt) Thatcher, of Ames, Iowa, Ryan (Samantha) Sorensen, of Blaine, Minnesota, Lisa Amundson, and special friend, Brian Colin, of Shakopee, Minnesota, and Alan (Ann) Amundson, of Waukasha, Wisconsin; her granddaughter-in law, Anne (Mark, deceased) Rockwell, of Waunakee, Wisconsin; eighteen great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Alice Ulve, of El Paso, Texas, and Edith Knudtson, of Rochester, Minnesota, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Eunice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold; her son, Warren; her grandson; Mark; her brothers, Orion and Clarence; and her sisters, Jessie, Clara, Laura, and Mavis.

Funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM, Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Thompson with Pastor Elaine Siemsen officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Thompson.
