(December 1, 1955 - November 4, 2007)Rick L. Flo, 51, of Mason City, Iowa, formerly of Lake Mills, Iowa, died Sunday, November 4, 2007, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota.
Rick L. Flo was born on December 1, 1955, in Albert Lea, Minnesota, the son of Lester A. and Anna (Askildson) Flo. In September of 1984, he married Mary Lien in Mesa, Arizona. They had two children, twins, Joshua and Christopher.
Baptized and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills, he attended Lake Mills High School. Rick later owned his own business with his sons, “Flo and Sons Construction.”
A man of many talents, Rick was always willing to give a helping hand to anybody in need. He had a kind heart and a great sense of humor, always loving a good joke. A kind of a “Jack of all trades,” he could do almost anything. Very artistic, he made some really beautiful engravings. Also very creative, he had a knack for seeing beauty in things that others might consider mundane.
Rick is survived by his wife, Mary, and his sons, Joshua (Cassie) of Mason City, Iowa; and Christopher (Molly) of Lake Mills; a granddaughter, Rowan, of Lake Mills; two sisters, Betty (Jim) Groe, of St. Paul, Minnesota, and Sharon (Lenny) Schiller, of Farmington, Minnesota; and two brothers, Larry (Karen) Flo, of Dallas, Texas, and Jerry Flo, of Cathedral City, California; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Michael.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, November 8, 2007, at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills, Iowa, with Pastor David Jordon officiating. Cremation will take place following the service with inurnment to follow at a later date at Salem Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 7, 2007, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street, Lake Mills, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church.Copyright © 2007, Mittelstadt Funeral Home
