(June 9, 1987 - July 2, 2012)Matthew T. Ramthun, 25, of Lake Mills, Iowa, died suddenly, Monday, July 2, 2012, at his home from an unexpected illness.
The son of Thomas and Janice (Evjen) Ramthun, Matthew Thomas Ramthun was born on June 9, 1987, at the Desert Hospital in Palm Springs, California.
Matthew attended Palm Springs Unified School District from 1990 to 1998, when he and his family moved to Lake Mills. An Honor Roll student selected for the National Honor Society, he graduated from Lake Mills High School with the “Class of 2005,” having received numerous awards. Matthew later attended NIACC, earning an AA Degree in 2007 after again receiving many academic scholarships. He, then, transferred to Iowa State University where he was on the Dean’s List, graduating with a BS Degree in Mathematics in 2010.
During his summers home from college, Matthew worked at Larson Manufacturing. After graduating from ISU, he worked for Lunds Food Holdings/Byerly’s in Lake Mills.
He enjoyed riding his bike and playing video games. He had a love for mythology, which lead to his interest in and fascination with collecting dragons. He also loved Chuck Norris jokes, saying, “I am going to go Chuck Norris on you!” while posing in his Karate stance.
