(April 30, 1923 - April 21, 2012)Virginia Lucille Foland, 88, of Leland, Iowa, died Saturday, April 21, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa in Mason City, Iowa.
Virginia Lucille Marker was born on April 30, 1923, in Cerro Gordo County, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence and Mabel Grace (Morris) Marker.
Stationed in New York City during World War II, she served her country as a medic in the Waves. She loved her time there and enjoyed sharing those experiences with anyone who would listen.
She worked for and retired from Fleetguard Industries in Lake Mills, Iowa. Family, friends and neighbors would often find her listening to all types of music and watching the flowers in her garden as they continuously bloomed.
Virginia is survived by her children: Stephen Curtiss, and his wife Pamela Ihme, of Albert Lea, Minnesota, Dennis, and his wife, Constance VanNice, of Midland, Texas, Mary Lou Johnson, of Leland, Iowa, Janine Harrison, and Charlie Wiltgen, of Scarville, Iowa, and Dave, and his wife, Etta Mull, of Forest City, Iowa; along with eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Harold, Bruce, and Lloyd Marker.
Visitation: 5:00-7:00 PM Wednesday evening at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street, Lake Mills, Iowa, 50450.
