Betty Ann Harris
(September 16, 1936 - December 30, 2011)

Betty Ann Harris, age 75, of Lake Mills, died Friday, December 30, 2011, in Lake Mills, Iowa.

Betty Ann (Clark) Harris was born on September 16, 1936, in Rockwell City, Iowa, the daughter of Asher and Frieda (Berding) Clark.

Betty worked at the Winnebago County Home in rural Lake Mills for many years. She later worked at the Lake Mills Care Center as a certified nurse’s aide and a prep cook in the kitchen as well as helping out wherever needed.

Betty met her husband, Harvey Harris, at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake and subsequently married him on August 25, 1967, at the Winnebago Lutheran Church in rural Lake Mills. They had four daughters, Roxane, Rhonda, Darla, and Lisa, and lived in Lake Mills for many years.

Betty enjoyed bowling, dancing, crocheting, and playing cards. Her favorite games included Skip-Bo and 500. She even played Skip-Bo every morning with Darla. Betty spent her most memorable times, however, gathered with family and friends in the breezeway for hours of laughing, joking, and playing cards. A caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, she always placed others' needs ahead of her own.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving daughters, Roxane Keeney, of Mason City, Iowa, Rhonda Keeney, of West Des Moines, Iowa, and Darla (Al) Andrews, of Lake Mills, Iowa; her five grandchildren, Amanda Keeney, Levi and Dustin Nesje, Lisa and Gunnerr Bransfield; and a great-granddaughter, Tierra Marie Keeney; along with many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Harvey Harris; her loving daughter, Lisa Harris; and her father- and mother-in-law, Carl and Ella Harris.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Rest in peace.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM on Saturday, January 7, 2012, at the Winnebago Lutheran Church, rural Lake Mills, with Pastor Bill Peters officiating. Inurnment will take place in the Winnebago Lutheran Church Cemetery at a later date.

Visitation will be on Friday, January 6, 2012, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street, Lake Mills, Iowa.
