(November 21, 1956 - December 25, 2011)

Cheryl E. Hansen, age 55, of Forest City, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 25, 2011, at University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City, Iowa.

Cheryl Elaine Hansen was born on November 21, 1956, in Denison, Iowa, the daughter of LeRoy and Delores (Helms) Hollander. She grew up and attended school in Denison where she met John Hansen. A daughter Angel was born to their union. After their marriage ended, she met and made a life with Randy Bannister. They began their new life in Forest City with their children Angel, Jaun Paul, and Candius. Later, they made their home on a farm in Crystal Lake where they were blessed with two more children, Jessica and Brandy. In 1988, Cheryl and Randy purchased the Sportsman’s Lounge and Café in Forest City which she owned and operated until her death. Cheryl enjoyed gardening, camping, fishing, and bowling, even joining a league. She, however, especially liked going to casinos with family and friends and spending precious time with her grandkids.

Those left to cherish her memory include: Angel, and her husband, Scott Spahn, Jaun Paul Bannister, Candius Bannister, Jessica Bannister, and special friend, Chuck Stuart, Brandy Bannister, and special friend, Jared Maass. Her grandchildren include Andrew, Alex, Amanda, Jakob, Ashton, Joey, Katelynn, Kylee, and Kaleb. Also surviving are her father, LeRoy (Barb) Hollander, her sisters, Barb Anderson, Cindy (Todd) Katzenberger, Carla Bigley, and Carmen Hollander, her brother, Dave (Betty) Potter, and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother Delores Hollander.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, December 29, 2011, at the Petersen Lund Funeral Home, 505 N. Clark Street, Forest City, with Pastor Rod Hopp of Immanuel Lutheran Church officiating.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, December 28, 2011, at the funeral home.

Burial is planned for 2:00 PM, Friday, December 30, 2011, at Oakland Cemetery in Denison, Iowa.
