(October 5, 1949 - December 11, 2011)

Charles Edward Hylland, 62, of Leland, Iowa, died Sunday, December 11, 2011, at his home in rural Leland. He was born on October 5, 1949, at Forest City, Iowa, the son of Paul A. and Ruth (Jacobson) Hylland. He attended Newton #1 country school and later attended and graduated from Lake Mills High School with the “Class of 1969”. He served his country in the United States Army from 1970 – 1972.

On December 28, 1978, Charles married Kathy Bausch in Forest City, Iowa.

Charles very much valued his family. He is survived by his wife, Kathy, of Leland, Iowa; his three children, Amber Hylland, and Stephen Fry, of Lake Mills, Iowa, Stacy, and her husband, Jonathan Salyers, of Malvern, Iowa, and Paul N. Hylland, of Lake Mills, Iowa; his mother, Ruth Hylland, of Scarville, Iowa; and three aunts along with many cousins and friends.

Charles was preceded in death by his father, Paul A. Hylland; his grandparents, Nels and Grace Hylland and Edvin and Rose Jacobson; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

His family will greet friends from 4:00 – 6:00 PM, Wednesday, December 14, 2011, at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street, Lake Mills, Iowa 50450.

There will be no further service; honoring his wishes, his body was cremated.
