Nina Corine (Ferley) Peterson, 100, of Lake Mills, Iowa, died Saturday, November 12, 2011, at the Lake Mills Care Center in Lake Mills, Iowa.

Nina was born on July 7, 1911, in Silver Lake, Iowa, to Albert and Gena (Sorbo) Ferley. She had three sisters and two brothers. Her sister, Gladys Neidlinger, of Cando, North Dakota, is the sole survivor from that family.

On March 22, 1936, Nina married Gilmer Peterson. They had three children, Duane (Diana), of Selah, Washington, Lorraine (Earl) Juveland, of Lake Mills (Lorraine is deceased), and Darlene (David) Decklever, of Ankeny, Iowa. Gilmer died in March of 1977.

Nina and Gilmer farmed in the Lake Mills area, and later, she worked at the Holiday Grill where she was noted for her wonderful baked goods. Also an excellent seamstress, she was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, and friend.

Nina had ten grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren, and eleven great, great grandchildren. She will be missed dearly, but we must celebrate her 100 years.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, November 16, 2011, at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills, Iowa, with Pastor David E. Jordon officiating.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Tuesday evening at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street, Lake Mills, and again one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will take place at Salem Memorial Cemetery in Lake Mills, Iowa.
