Betty M. Winter
(November 13, 1934 - October 4, 2011)Betty M. Martin Rahbusch Winter, age 76, of Buffalo Center, Iowa, died Tuesday, October 4, 2011, at the Hancock Memorial Hospital in Britt, Iowa, as the result of a lengthy illness.
Born November 13, 1934, Betty was the daughter of Bessie Martin. She grew up and received her education in Sutherland, Iowa.
She and her first husband, William Peter Rahbusch, Jr., were blessed with five children: Peter, Sharon, Barb, Deb and Amy. They raised their children on the family farm in Sutherland. Following William's death, Betty married Paul Winter on May 31, 1981. After their marriage, they resided in Buffalo Center, Iowa.
Betty was an amazing wife, daughter, niece, sister, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved taking pictures, doing geneaology, carving wood sculptures, making miniature furniture, working with computers, canning and freezing, and camping. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren weeks at a time during the summers.
Survivors include her loving husband Paul; her children, Barb Wren and Deb Welte, both of Anthon, Iowa, and Amy (Mike) Johnson, of Kimball, Minnesota; two step children, Al (Pam) Winter, of Clarion, Iowa, and Tim (Karen) Winter, of Taylor Ridge, Illinois; six grandchildren, Greg (Amanda) Korleski, Ashley Hanson, Jamie (Dana) Hanson, Kate Hanson, Elizabeth Decker, Sydney Welte and Jacob Welte; five step grandchildren, Jesse, Brady, Matthew, Ryan and Alex Winter; and three great grandchildren Taylor and Tristin Korleski and Kaeson Hanson; two step great grandchildren, Genesis and Jaymz Winter, as well as several other extended family members and friends.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her sons, Peter and Robbie Rahbusch, her daughter, Sharon Rahbusch Korleski Decker; her son-in-law, Kirk Welte; and her grandson, Mike Wenck.
A memorial service will be held for Betty on Friday October 7, 2011, at 1:00 PM at the Graceland Cemetery in Buffalo Center.
