(December 21, 1918 - July 9, 2011)C. Bernadette “Bea” Beseman, 92, of Lake Mills, Iowa, formerly of Bloomington, Minnesota, died Saturday, July 09, 2011, at the Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea, Minnesota.
Caryl Bernadette “Bea” Hall Beseman was born December 21, 1918, in Burtrum, Minnesota, the daughter of Leonard Andrew and Charlotte “Lottie” (Wilson) Hall. Bea grew up in Burtrum, Minnesota, and attended school there. During her freshman and sophomore years, however, she had the opportunity to attend school in Hawaii while living with her aunt. She then graduated from Burtrum High School. After high school, she attended college in St. Cloud and later Mankato where she earned a teaching certificate. She taught school for seven years. Bea later worked as a computer programmer for twenty plus years at Ft. Snelling.
On February 7, 1937, she married Otto William Beseman in her parents’ home in Burtrum, Minnesota. Otto passed away on June 6, 1966.
Bea loved her family. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, and going on outings with her friends at Mills Harbour in Lake Mills, the place she called home for the past ten years. Bea was fondly known for her love for “crazy socks.” She had socks for every holiday and more pairs than she could possibly ever wear.
Bea is survived by her loving family, one son, Bill, and his wife, Joan Beseman, of Albert Lea, Minnesota; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Otto; three sisters, Elsie, Elmo, and Evelyn; and two brothers, Kenneth and Harleth.
A funeral service will be held at 7:00 PM, Tuesday evening, at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street, Lake Mills, Iowa 50450, with Pastor Randy Baldwin officiating.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Burial will take place at 1:00 PM., Wednesday, July 13, 2011, at Moses Dane Cemetery in Burtrum, Minnesota.
