GLADYS L. HOLMLUND
LAKE MILLS - Gladys L. Holmlund, 90, died Monday (Nov. 5, 2001) at the Good Shepherd Health Center in Mason City.
Her funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills with the Rev. Kevin Mackey and the Rev. Roger Dykstra officiating. Burial will take place at the Elmwood Cemetery in Mason City, Iowa.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Mittelstadt Funeral Home in Lake Mills and again one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Gladys L. Holmlund was born Dec. 13, 1910, in Schaeffer, N. D., the daughter of Einar and Mamie (Field) Lund. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith.
On Dec. 4, 1932, she was united in marriage to William T. Holmlund in Albert Lea, Minn. Together, they owned and operated The Union Store in Lake Mills from 1947 to 1976.
Gladys loved her family.
She is survived by her husband, William T. Holmlund, of Mason City; her children, Shirley and her husband, Brice Pierce, of Thompson; Robert and his wife, Sandy Holmlund, of Hudson; Mary and her husband, Charles Stumo, of Northwood; Ronald and his wife, Gerrie Holmlund, of Readlyn; David and his wife, Pat Holmlund, of Buena Vista, Colo.; 12 grandchildren, Gary Pierce, Sharon Krogman, Cindy Simmons, Kevin Pierce, Tom Holmlund, Brian Holmlund, Michael Stumo, Teresa Stumo, Julie Stumo, Michelle Wolfensperger, Tamara Walther and Nikki Holmlund; 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lucille Frank, of Mason City; Delores Palmquist, of Calif.; one brother, Overan Lund of Richfield, Minn.; two sisters-in-law, Marge Holmlund, of Minneapolis, Minn.; Myrtle Holmlund, of Mason City; along with numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Lenore; one grandson, Craig Holmlund, and one great-grandson, Nels Stumo.
