Duane H. (Eno) Elwood

Duane H. (Eno) Elwood was born on March 29,1944 in Buffalo Center, IA to Homer and Neoma (Berhow) Elwood. He was baptized and comfirmed in the Lutheran faith. He atended Buffalo Center schools and graduated from the high school in 1962. He then served in the army until 1964.

He married Colleen Haugen at Zion Lutheran Church in Rake on August 17, 1968. They lived east of Rake until they moved to town in 1979.

Eno worked on the farm for Johnson Brothers until 1984. He then worked for Winnebago County Secondary Road Department for 23 years until his retirement on December 31, 2007. He continued to help Randy and Beth Risius with farming in the fall.

Eno enjoyed golfing and loved being around faimly and friends. Eno was an avid sports fan and loved following his children and grandchildren's sporting events and playing with the little ones.

Eno was well liked for his sense of humor and laughter.

Eno passed away on Monday July 21, 2008, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester at the age of 64 years.

Eno is survived by his wife Colleen Elwood of Rake; daughter Lisa Olson and husband Todd of Algona; son Brian and his wife Shelley of Thompson; five grandchilren: Derrek, Matthew, and Jessica Olson; and Morgan and Blaise Elwood; four brothers: Keith and wife Peggy; Carroll; Arlan and wife Marilyn; Galen and wife Cindy; and three sisters: Elaine Wicks and husband Harold; Janice Hixson; and Pat Thorson and husband Arlin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-laws: Therese, Marlys, and Mary; and a bother-in-law Rick.
