Robert Dean Berhow
(February 24, 1933 - May 27, 2007)Bob Berhow, 74, of Garner, Iowa, died on Sunday, May 27, 2007, at the Mercy Medical Center of North Iowa in Mason City.
Robert Dean Berhow was born on February 24, 1933, in Winnebago County, Iowa, to Roy and Annie (Lamping) Berhow. Baptized in the Lutheran Faith, he graduated from Buffalo Center High School. Next, he farmed near Buffalo Center, Iowa. Then, after working in construction, he accepted a position at Winnebago Industries where he worked for twenty-six years as a supervisor in the Weld Shop. He retired in 1995.
Bob married Viola Hagenson on March 25, 1953. Their marriage was blessed with four children: Gescha, Madonna, Douglas, and Tim. They, later, divorced. Eventually, he found the love of his life in Linda Burch. They married on December 17, 1983.
Bob enjoyed fishing, playing cards and cribbage, and watching and cheering for the Green Bay Packers. He, also, enjoyed spending time at his lake home in Spirit Lake, Iowa. Most of all, however, he loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Bob is survived by his wife, Linda Mae Berhow, of Garner, Iowa; his children: Gescha Schroader, of Lake Mills, Iowa, Madonna Merriam, of Forest City, Iowa, Douglas Robert Berhow, and his wife, Janet, also of Forest City, Iowa, and Timothy Lee Berhow, of Bayard, Iowa; his grandchildren: Sarah Nicole Berhow; Cory Alan (Emilie), Dallas Lynn, and Andy Lee Gregor; Shane Allen Hill; and Angela Kay, James Thomas, and Nicole Marie Merriam; and his great-grandchildren: Gaven Alan and Graysen Dean Gregor; and Bryce Allen, Dylan Thomas, Jacob Ryan, and Madison Kay Merriam; and his brothers: Donald Wayne Berhow, of Buffalo Center, Iowa, Jimmie Lee Berhow, of Ames, Iowa, and Randy Roy Berhow, and his wife, Mary, of Watertown, Minnesota; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Tom and Cleo; his sister, Shirley; and his granddaughter, Dawn Lunning.
His funeral ceremony was at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, May 30, 2007, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Buffalo Center, Iowa, with Pastor Perry Aalgaard. Burial was at Olena Mound Cemetery in Buffalo Center. Visitation hours were from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Tuesday May 29, 2007, at the Winter Funeral Home in Buffalo Center.
