(Died November 6, 2009)

Michael Bierle, age 57, of Buffalo Center, IA, died on Friday at Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt, IA after a courageous battle with lung cancer.

Mike was born to Raymond and Lucille (Harmon) Bierle on November 11, 1951 in Estherville, Iowa. He graduated high school from Buffalo Center High School in 1969 and Iowa Lakes Community College in 1971. Mike worked for the Farmers Co-Op Elevator in Woden for over 25 years, where he was a manager for a number of those years. The last few years he worked for Cummins Filtration in Lake Mills.

Mike married Diane Pedersen in 1969 and this marriage was blessed with three children, Chris, Travis, and Heidi.

On December 10, 1994, Mike was united in marriage to Lorie Winter. With this marriage came step-children Kyle and Rebecca.

The loves of his life were teasing his grandchildren, his dog Kringle, woodworking, and being the ultimate do-it-yourself guy.

Mike is survived by his: wife Lorie; sons: Chris (Angie) Bierle of Garner, IA; Travis (Kristy) Bierle of Nevada, IA; daughter Heidi (Scott) Weaver of Maricopa, AZ; step-son Kyle (Kelly) Winter of Iowa City; and step-daughter Rebecca Winter (and special friend Bill Meyer) of Ames, IA; grandchildren: Jace and Aspen Weaver; Katelyn, Amanda, and Rachel Bierle; and Brandon and Alyssa Weaver; father Raymond (Phyllis) of Buffalo Center; brothers: Keith (Maurine) of Cedar Falls; and Jim (JoAnn) of Arkansas City, KS; sisters Joyce (Tim) Heitland of Buffalo Center, IA; and Julie Linderman (Tom Wallace) of Cedar Rapids, IA; sister-in-law LeAnn (Rod) Wempen of Luverne, IA; numerous nieces and nephews; and many many friends.

Mike was preceded in death by his mother Lucille, brother Jonathan, nephew Trent, mother-in-law and father-in-law Merrill and Faye Albers, and niece Alicea Wempen.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 AM Monday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Buffalo Center with Pastor Perry Aalgaard officiating. Burial was in Graceland Cemetery in Buffalo Center, IA.

Visitation was Sunday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Buffalo Center and 1 hour before the service on Monday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Hospice of the Heartland.
