A sad death occurred at the home of Chris Johnson 3 miles north of town Saturday night when Mrs. Johnson bled to death. Deceased was troubled with varicose veins of the lower limbs and at the same time a recent ulcer had given her some trouble, but was not considered of sufficient importance to consult a physician. Saturday evening while preparing to retire Mrs. Johnson discovered that her limb was bleeding profusely and called to her husband who had already retired for the evening. An attempt was made to stop the flow of blood but to no avail and neighbors were called. Later a doctor was called, but before he could reach the farm the woman had bled to death. She was 39 years of age and leaves a family of six small children.

The funeral was held Tuesday conducted by Rev. V. F. Larson and the interment made in the West Prairie church yard. The family occupy Koto & Perry farm, 3 miles north of town.
