Lief Liefson, 78 retired farmer at Thompson died early Friday from pneumonia which developed Thursday morning. He was operated on at Rochester last summer and last week had several radium treatments. Surviving are his wife and two sons, Leo of Saskatechawan, and Halvor of Leland, and a daughter, Mrs. Oscar Trytten of Leland. A son, Leo, received word Monday of last week in Canada of his father's serious illness and arrived Friday in Thompson.
Mr. Liefson, who resided in the Thompson Locality 25 years was a retired farmer. He was born in Sauland, Telemark, Norway in 1860 and married Anna Dalen in that country. He and his family came to this country in 1893. His first wife died in 1906 and he afterwards married Asa Halvorson who passed away in 1914. In 1916 he was united in marriage to Mrs. Abe Leper who survives him. Funeral services were held at the home and the West Prairie Church by Rev. J. J. Skarpness and burial made at West Prairie cemetery Sept. 30 1937 Forest City Summit, Iowa.
