SAD ACCIDENT

Ole Ambrosen, An Old Settler, Run Over By a Train and Instantly Killed

It is reported this morning that Ole Ambrosen was killed late last night [2 Oct 1895] by being run over by the train near Leland. Mr. Ambrosen was in the city yesterday and went to the depot about seven o’clock in the evening to take the freight No. 45 to his home near Leland, not being aware of the change of schedule by which the night freights do not carry passengers. Upon being informed that he could not leave until 3:45 the next morning he decided to walk. He probably became weary and sat down on the track to rest and fell asleep, when No. 46 coming south struck him. The train passed over the abdomen completely severing the body in two. The accident was at once reported to this city and a force of men went up to look for the body. Coroner Keeler was also telegraphed but had not arrived at this writing.
