Lake Mills News
December 30, 1874—The Lake Mills people celebrated the Christmas festival by having a Christmas tree erected at the school house. The tree was loaded with presents for the little folks. Dr. J. M. Hull delivered an appropriate address; the Rowland boys furnished the music, and Mr. John Pratt personified Santa Claus. (We have no doubt that he made the character true to life.) A very enjoyable time was had.
—Mr. J. O. Barnett, the popular landlord, will give a new year's party at which all who like to “trip the light fantastic toe” will have a chance to do so. Barnett is a genial fellow and knows how to do things, when he sets himself about it and we have no doubt that the New Years [sic] party will be a success.
