Notes sent by Stein Auestad, 10/09/06:

[In connection to the biography of] L.A. Jensen I’d just like to mention that his father, the county clerk, is one Lars Jensen. He was born in 1843 on the farm Helland in Strand parish, Rogaland county Norway. He emigrated from Norway in 1850 with his parents and siblings, but shortly after the family had arrived in the US, Lars’ mother and three of his siblings died in a cholera epidemic. Lars also fought in the Civil War as a private in Co K/ 27 Iowa Infantry. He is the listed as: “Age 19. Residence Mitchell County, nativity Norway. Enlisted Aug. 18, 1862. Mustered Sept. 9, 1862. Discharged for disease July 29, 1863, Moscow, Tenn.”

Notes sent by Joy Wright, 01/15/07:

Louis Adolph Jensen's father was Jens Jensen. It was Jens that had the son, Lars, who died in 1869. Lars (Lewis) "developed heart trouble as a complication of measles contracted while he was enroute from Ft. Snelling, Minnesota to Cairo,
Illinois" which later led to his death.
