Honorable Andrew Miller, Attorney General of North Dakota, was born in Denmark, November 16, 1870. He emigrated with his parents to the United States in 1872. H is early boyhood was spent in the states of New York and Vermont. In 1880 he moved to Chickasaw county, Iowa, with his parents, and until 1892 followed the occupation of farming. In the spring of that year he began the study of law in the office of A. C. Ripley, at Garner, Hancock county, Iowa; and was admitted to the bar at Des Moines, Iowa. In May, 1894, he opened an office for general practice at Buffalo Center, Winnebago county, Iowa. In the fall of 1896 he was elected county attorney and in January, 1897, removed to Forest City, the county seat of Winnebago county. Mr. Miller was elected mayor of Forest City in 1898 and re-elected in 1900, serving two consecutive terms and one term as county attorney. In 1905 he moved to Bismarck, North Dakota, opening a law office at that place. He was appointed Assistant Attorney General in January, 1907, under Hon. T. F. McCue, then Attorney General; but resigned in November, 1907. In November, 1908, he was elected Attorney General and has served the state with ability and fidelity. Attorney General Miller is a member of the firm of Miller & Costello, of Bismarck.
