Thursday, March 8, 2012, Elaine Poundstone, 74, of Vincent was united with her heavenly family. She spent her last two years under the loving care at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. While there, she met many wonderful people who showed her love, honor and respect, truly, a blessing from God in her final chapter in life. Her strong will and love for life was nothing short of amazing and an inspiration to many. A memorial service with family and friends will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at the South Enes Lutheran Church in Vincent, IA. Elaine was born at the Hospital in Fort Dodge on July 30, 1937 to Harold and Lillian (Johnson) Nelson. She graduated from Manson High School, Iowa Lutheran college and further on to attain her Master's degree at Saint Mary's. Elaine was a nurse anesthetist. Elaine then met Joe Poundstone and together they celebrated 39 years of marriage, seven children, 17 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. They established their home outside of Clare, IA, which included many gathering at the "Poundstone swimming pool". In August of 1992, Joe and Elaine fulfilled their dream of moving somewhere warmer, Dover Arkansas. Elaine enjoyed sewing, reading, "researching" her electronics, was avid fan of the TV show NCIS and a joy to just sit and visit with. After Joe's death in February, 2001, Elaine surrounded herself with the love of her family, she moved to Vincent to live during the warm weather and Texas to live in the winter. This was a time of her healing, teaching her children to nurture, being a mentor for her grandchildren and a friend to all, "G" Poundstone.
